Sophie Lahusen

is a german-french director, writer, and photographer working between documentary and fiction, where she blends observational storytelling with hybrid forms. Her films explore female experiences, questions of identity, family and social structures, moving between realism and experimental approaches.

She studied at the University of Television and Film Munich (HFF) and Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica Mexiko City (CCC) and workes as a researcher and journalist for international broadcasters such as ARTE and ZDF. Her films have screened at international festivals including DocsBarcelona and DOK.fest München, and her screen documentary The silence of 600 million results received multiple international awards. She is currently based in Mexico City, developing her satirical docu-fiction Expat, Baby.
